As a lot of you know - I am a HUGE DOOM fan, always have been, always will be. A while ago I read something in PC Gamer about a movie coming out based on the games. I was a little morbid at first, but then discovered Paul Anderson would NOT be directing this one (PHEW!). I found the trailer and I'm impressed that they actually pulled off the one thing I was afraid of: the first person perspective. That's right - the DOOM movie is almost entirely in First Person Perspective. I thought it would look horrible, but ironicly it looks like a thrill ride. Now, with that said, there are two things I would've done to make the movie better: A - Loose the "Squad" and The Rock. DOOM is about being outnumbered, about being one guy between 15 billion demons, and B - They're DEMONS NOT MUTAINTS!! I can't belive they changed the script from demon to mutiant. This means no portal to hell or anything. Reason? Christian group moaning at them saying it will make people belive "Hell" is cool -.- Whatever. Here's the link, enjoy.

the idea of making a movie about Doom is weird .... u ll never get the REAL ambiance from it, like those Resident Evil movies etc

a while ago i saw the rock on the daily show and they talked about this movie. It was about 2 or 3 months ago maybe more. When i saw the chian saw i new i was going to see this movie

I just watched that trailer. It looked like garbage... but I'll pay to see it anyway because I'm a huge fan of the games.

How can you not be? I spent 2 years with a bag of cheetos and a bottle of Dr Pepper beating Final DOOM on nightmare.

I think it's weird when they make movies out of video games.

I hear that they're also going to be making a movie out of the Dungeon Siege games as well. Now that's just.....weird.

Hmm ... just watched the trailer.
Doesn't look as dark or scary as the game.
Actually looks kinda .... weak. The action and CG effects don't look like anything we haven't seen already. I really hope I'm wrong but that's my impression.

It'll be okay just because it's DOOM. I've come to expect lower quality movies when it comes to videogame movies, but it's still a nice way to kill an hour and half. Besides... It's DOOM.

I just don't want it to be more about the Rock than Doom. But I hear ya.

I actually like the first Resident Evil movie because they even used the sound of the game footsteps in the film! Now that's authenticity.

But the second RE film tried to be "bigger" than the game - it was an awful waste of pyrotechnics and celluloid.
